4U - Playground Soccer

U4 Playground Soccer Program

Welcome to our AYSO Playground Soccer program for the 4U division (3 and 4 year olds)!

The 4U Playground Soccer program introduces 3 year olds (Birth year 2017) to soccer in a fun, pressure-free environment.  Playground Soccer uses group activities, soccer themes, and parent participation to develop the fundamental motor skills that prepare kids for all sports.  Players participate on a weekly basis with their parent (or other adult) working with them on the field.

This is NOT a mini World Cup experience.  Don’t expect 60 minutes of soccer games.  The program uses soccer as the "teaching thread" to develop fundamental motor skills such as balance, running, jumping and throwing.  This is the foundation of sports success and an active lifestyle. Let your little one learn the beautiful game the right way!

Parent Participation is REQUIRED!  Trained AYSO coaches lead sessions that create a fun, parent participatory atmosphere utilizing age appropriate activities and storybook adventures. Days and times TBD. Playground meets once a week.

There is NO practice during the week.

The 2020 early bird registration cost is TBD for the program (10 weeks).

5U - Schoolyard Soccer

U5 Schoolyard Soccer Program

Welcome to our AYSO Schoolyard Soccer program for the 5U division (4 year olds, birth year 2016)!

In Schoolyard Soccer, children get to play soccer in an age-specific program, and you, the parents, get to participate with them

The Schoolyard Soccer program combines two different formats:  Jamboree and One with one.  In AYSO soccer, a jamboree means that teams are formed on a weekly basis depending on how many players attend a given session. One with one refers to the concept that each player will have a parent (or other adult) working with them on the field.

A “Master Coach” will lead each session. The Master Coach will introduce a game/activity that will practice a certain skill or part of the game using explanation and demonstration. Each pair (player/parent) will then attempt the activity while the Team Coach and Master Coach circulates between pairs providing specific help or suggestions so that the activities are performed as intended. After a suitable amount of time, the Master Coach will bring the team coaches, players and parents back together as a group, recap what they have done, and introduce the next game/activity.

Each session will end with a 20 minute small-sided game to be overseen by the parents. Most importantly allow the players to play without coaching or teaching them as this experience is designed to expose them to soccer, not to begin developing them. The two goals of the program are to (1) allow the players to enjoy the activities and (2) to let the game be the teacher.

In Schoolyard Soccer, goals are not counted to determine who wins - every player is a winner. Young players need to get a feel for the ball and the field, so even though there are adults all around and many opportunities to offer instruction, the emphasis is on fun and play. It’s a different kind of game in 5U, but the children still receive and wear jerseys, cleats and shin guards. Best of all, they find out that soccer is something they can do.

There is NO practice during the week.

Session days and time TBD.

The 2020 early bird registration cost is TBD for the program (10 weeks).
